Early Broadcasting Photographs-1920's |
||
These photographs were scanned from a group of glass-plate magic lantern slides. They show various radio performers in studio settings or at remote sites. In most (all?) cases, they show Western Electric ring-mount carbon microphones such as were widely used in the late 1920's. I have been able to identify several of the people seen here, including announcer Phillips Carlin and pioneer sportscaster Graham McNamee. |

Sportscaster Graham McNamee (standing) and announcer Phillips Carlin broadcasting from Yankee Stadium. I found a photograph identical to this one (except the two people have switched positions) in a radio book published in 1927. |
